Henry Moore in Spain

BBC World Service, Talks and Features, 21 May 1981

Excerpt:

‘You see, sculpture is expression through shape, through form, through a solid thing. Painting can do things which sculpture cannot do. A sculpture cannot show the shape of clouds in the sky, it can’t show the kind of distance that painting can and, of course, it doesn’t use colour – if it uses colour it’s used only decoratively, not in an expressive kind of way. All art is to enlarge and make life more interesting.’
